In 1984, after breathing the world of vineyards and wines for decades, Maria Casanovas is introduced to Cava by the family’s younger generation, whose dedication, enthusiasm and hard work have succeeded in introducing Maria Casanovas´ cavas into the best wine merchants and the best restaurants for the national and international markets.
The Maria Casanovas´s winery is located at the heart of Penedés region, in Sant Sadurni d´Anoia, the capital of Cava. Its soil and its Mediterranean climate enable the production of unique variety grapes. We strictly monitor 9 hectares of vines throughout the year from the varieties such Xarel•lo, Parellada, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The landscape embraces breathtaking views of the hills, vines, forest and olive trees, with the greatest respect for the environment,
Since its establishment, Maria Casanovas has always produced a unique and elegant Cava which has developed into a highly regarded brand thanks to its consistent quality, commitment and innovative spirit.
Maria Casanovas distinguishes itself in the art of coupage, ie the blending of different varieties of wine which lay the foundations of the still wine that will finally be developed into an exceptional cava. We create our medium and long ageing cavas from the classic Penedes varieties: Xare•lo, Macabeo and Parellada. We are also one of the pioneers in incorporating the Pinot Noir variety, which offers finesse and subtlety, and combining it with the elegance and complexity of Chardonnay.
